The North American Bird Conservation Initiative Monitoring Subcommittee has just released guidance for avian data management. The document is titled "Data Management Best Practices and Standards for Biodiversity Data Applicable to Bird Monitoring Data and was compiled by Elizabeth Martin and Grant Ballard. The NABCI monitoring subcommittee (http://www.nabci-us.org/monitoring.html) is now looking for input on priority databases and data centers (i.e., locations managing multiple databases) used by people in Partners in Flight.
We are currently developing a number of automatically updated figures to summarize progress toward monitoring goals in the Southeastern US. The example figure below displays the number of point counts in the USGS Point Count Database for selected southeastern states. The chart is automatically updated as new data are entered into the database.
